2017 Lincoln MKC: The Perfect Balance of Quiet and Luxury

2017 Lincoln MKC

The luxury crossover segment is a wildly popular one with Canadian consumers. Compact SUVs deliver a great balance of comfort, style, and utility. It can be difficult for automakers to make their crossover stand out from any of the rest. But Lincoln seems to have hit upon a pretty attractive formula with the 2017 Lincoln MKC. The MKC features an understated, refined look, but it also adopts a more athletic posture than previous iterations.

The standard engine is a 2.0L GTDI engine that delivers 240 horsepower. It won’t throw you back in your seat, but it remains consistent with Lincoln’s “quiet luxury” mantra. Still, it will confidently climb hills and pass slow-moving traffic on the highway. It also offers a surprising 3,000 lbs of towing capacity, but I’ve yet to see an MKC towing a boat. That’s not really the point of a Lincoln.

Quiet Luxury

The point of a Lincoln is maximum comfort and luxury. That’s why the MKC interior uses Bridge of Weir Deepsoft Leather, one of the softest seating surfaces in any industry. It’s also why you get standard features like 10-way adjustable, heated seats; SYNC 3, voice-activated navigation, and more. While some luxury manufacturer’s demand you pay a high starting MSRP and then shell out for premium extras (like a different colour of paint…), Lincoln’s base model MKC comes with much of what you need for a refined driving experience.

Select (MSRP: $41,800)

On the Select trim level, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is standard. It monitors the road conditions constantly to provide optimal torque to each wheel. Combined with Continuously Controlled Damping, the MKC is confident and smooth on any terrain. On the inside, you get a ton of features for your comfort like dual-zone automatic temperature control, 8-inch LCD touch screen, and Active Noise Control. But that’s really just the beginning. It would take far too long to list all the great things you get standard. So, here are just a few of the highlights:

  • Wollsdorf Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
  • Electric Power Assist Steering
  • 18-Inch Painted Aluminum Wheels
  • HID Automatic Headlights

Reserve (MSRP: $46,800)

The Reserve MKC brings a little more comfort and refinement than the Select. The most noticeable improvement is a set of  18” Bright Machined Wheels with Dark Steel pockets. On the Reserve trim, you can also choose the available 2.3L GTDI turbocharged engine with 285 horsepower. That will equip the MKC with a bit more white-knuckle if you choose to sling it through a corner. That being said, the luxury crossover segment isn’t about thrilling performance. It’s about… luxury. And the Reserve trim level won’t disappoint you there.

The Reserve trim level includes:

  • Climate Package w/ Heated Rear Seats & Steering Wheel
  • Panoramic Vista Roof
  • Hands-Free Power Liftgate
  • Blind-Spot Information Centre

Whichever model of MKC you choose, you’ll get an impressive array of luxury features. As a complement, the ride is smooth and confident with just enough punch to satisfy the driving enthusiast. Click here to learn more about the 2017 Lincoln MKC.
